Machu Picchu – “Old Mountain”, pronounced is a pre-Columbian Inca site located 2,430 metres (7,970 ft) above sea level. It is situated on a mountain ridge above the Urumba Valley in Peru.
Most archaeologists believe that Machu Picchu was built as an estate for the Inca emperor Pachacuti (1438–1472). Often referred to as “The Lost City of the Incas”, it is perhaps the most familiar icon of the Inca World.

HOW COOL IS THAT. That used to be an entire empire. When you touch the rocks you’re effectively touching hundreds of years’ worth of history! You can imagine from the ruins exactly how it used to be, and what went on, and the era, (Rena mentioned peasant couples in long flowy things and secret meetings how rustic and sweet is that!) everything. Omg.
